On June 24th, the Programme convened 150 beneficiaries and stakeholders in Rimini for its Capitalisation event “From Results to Uptake: Capitalizing Project Results for Policy Impact and Future Programming”. The strong participation, lively discussions, and enthusiasm confirmed that the conference was truly successful.
The event brought together a wide and diverse audience: project beneficiaries, Programme representatives from Interreg Italy–Croatia, Interreg Italy–Slovenia, and IPA South Adriatic, as well as key stakeholders such as EUSAIR, CPMR, the Italian Department for Cohesion Policy, and regional authorities from Emilia‑Romagna, Marche, Veneto, Friuli Venezia-Giulia, Puglia as well as national contact points from Bosnia‑Herzegovina, Croatia, Greece, Italy, Montenegro, San Marino and Slovenia.
The first part of the conference focused on the strategic role of capitalisation in shaping future policies and programming.
During the pitch session, Barbara Di Piazza presented the IPA ADRION capitalisation approach, highlighting the Programme’s structured methodology. Nicolas Garnier shared Interact’s practices, emphasising knowledge management and result uptake. Sara Battini from Italy–Croatia Programme illustrated the experience of the MMM coordinated calls, showing how joint mechanisms can amplify impact.
To close up the topic, the morning session hosted a roundtable with key stakeholders across the Adriatic-Ionian region and beyond, offering insights on how capitalisation can drive policy change.
- Pierluigi Coppola (EUSAIR): “Interreg projects are laboratories that must reflect policy priorities and drive public investments… when speaking about connectivity, the future lies in multimodality.”
- Helena Sundblad Schaefer (DG REGIO): “Capitalisation is essential because it helps maximise the value of public investment.”
- Katerina Themeli (IPA ADRION Monitoring Committee): “When the Monitoring Committee approved the Capitalisation Strategy, what attracted our attention was the broader logic behind it: we approached capitalisation as a strategic tool.”
- Chiara Campanile (IPA South Adriatic): “Capitalisation is the heartbeat of our cooperation because our goal is to ensure that project results do not end up in a drawer.”
- Claudia Guzzon (CPMR): “We are looking at the MMM pilot activities as actions that should be repeated in the next programming period.”
- Paolo Rosso (Emilia‑Romagna Region): “Regions stand at the crossroads of policy makers and policy takers. Coordinating synergies both among regions in Europe and among regional beneficiaries is our main challenge.”
- Dario Galassi (San Marino): “For a small country, cooperation is essential. This is why we are finalising an agreement with the EU and establishing an ECGT.”
- Lodovico Gherardi (IPA ADRION Managing Authority): “Cooperation among Programmes has evolved from avoiding double financing to cooperation among projects across different Programmes, a real change of mindset.”

The afternoon session marked the first in‑person meeting of the ten IPA ADRION Clusters, each gathering 10–15 active members. Clusters began identifying: joint solutions, common takers and possible joint activities.
Supported by thematic experts, Cluster members will now work on joint actions to facilitate the transfer, reuse, and mainstreaming of project results across the region. These activities will continue until mid‑2027, paving the way for stronger results’ uptake.
The Rimini event demonstrated that capitalisation is becoming a shared priority across the Adriatic‑Ionian region. The Programme’s beneficiaries, partners, and stakeholders showed curiosity, and a clear commitment to collaborate — confirming that IPA ADRION is well positioned to turn results into lasting impact.
