This year’s edition of EU Green Week highlights the ongoing efforts Europe must make to advance the green transition—that is, the actions required to reduce carbon emissions and promote more sustainable lifestyles for its citizens and the planet.
The 2025 edition is dedicated to the three Cs: Clean, Circular, and Competitive. Within this framework, our project JOINABLE was selected as one of a range of project examples where Interreg has made a meaningful impact.
JOINABLE contributes to the transition toward a blue circular economy by addressing marine and freshwater plastic pollution across the Adriatic-Ionian region through innovative, citizen-driven solutions. The project targets both policy and practical gaps that currently leave plastic litter in aquatic environments unmanaged. To tackle this, JOINABLE introduces cutting-edge digital tools for monitoring and removing plastic waste.
The project has launched a series of initiatives that actively involve volunteers in marine litter removal campaigns. It also supports small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in demonstrating small-scale manufacturing of bins, tables, and other products made from recycled marine plastic.
Additionally, JOINABLE develops policy recommendations and a joint roadmap for circular blue economy practices across six Adriatic-Ionian countries. It has also joined the EU Mission: Restore Our Ocean and Waters by 2030.
We encourage you to explore the full range of Interreg projects involved and help spread the word about the initiatives contributing to the EU Green Deal!
