JOINABLE Project: 6th International Workshop on Marine Litter Monitoring, Removal and Blue Circular Economy

The project JOINABLE organizes the 6th International Workshop Edition on Marine Litter Monitoring, Removal and Blue Circular Economy that will be held on May 29th, 2026. The event, part of the broader initative of the EU Mission Ocean and Waters, will take place in hybrid mode. The conference will be held onsite at the International Boat Show (Arsenale, Torre di Porta Nuova) in Venice (Italy), while the online participants will be able to join only to the first and second parts of the event through a link provided after the registration here.   

The event will take place from 10:00 to 17:45 and it is divided into 4 parts.  

D. Poletto, Director of Venice Lagoon Plastic Free, partner of JOINABLE,will open the workshop by introducing professionals active in the sector as E. Venturini (Councillor for Environment, Climate, Parks and Civil Protection of the Veneto Region), E. Balzi (Active Senior DG Research & Innovation, European Commission) and  A. Calvia-Gotz and J. Bofill (European Investment Bank).  

The introduction to the meeting will be followed by sessions addressing marine litter and blue circular economy principles while the second part will cover a policy roundtable regarding European initiatives to tackle marine litter. The third part will focus specifically on marine litter in Venice through participatory modality for stakeholders, then the fourth one will showcase a live demo of the SeaCat, the vessel built under the HEUROPE SeaClear 1.0 & 2.0 Projects that identifies and removes marine litter from the surface and the bottom of the sea. 

The workshop venue will also host the Photo Exhibition: Plastic Project – Officina Fotografica N°4.
