Looking back: key achievements of the ADRION Programme

Dec 9, 2025 | News

The Interreg ADRION Programme for 2014-2020 has officially closed, successfully investing its €118 million budget, achieving a 95% fund absorpion rate. The programme helped foster European integration and cohesion across the Adriatic and Ionian region through 87 cooperation projects on innovation, environment and transport. These projects, covering 99,2 million euros of its Programme’s resources, have supported the reduction of economic and social disparities across the area.

Thanks to the Programme, over 100 pilot actions and small-scale investments were developed to increase the visibility and accessibility of cultural and natural sites, contributing to over 90,000 new visits to attractions across the region. Moreover, funded projects in the sector of innovation involved over 1,600 enterprises in fruitful collaborations with research centers. In addition to that, the Programme provided significant support to the EU Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Region (EUSAIR) governance structure. Through the Facility Point project, actions were financed to support awareness and collaboration among a broad spectrum of stakeholders across 9 participating countries.

Many more reasons to highlight the vital role of ADRION for EU cohesion policy have been summarized in the last citizen summary for 20214-2020. Let yourself be inspired by our collective achievements!
